A terrific-looking barrel sample, the 2018 Gigondas from Domaine de Piaugier boasts loads of sweet red and black fruits as well as notes of flowery incense and spice, medium body, a rounded, sexy texture, and a great finish. A blend of 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, and 15% Syrah, it has 25% of the blend raised in a new oak foudre, with the balance in older oak.
