This week’s Wine of the Week features 2020 Niepoort Twisted Tinto, from Douro, Portugal! For centuries, Douro has been known mainly for its Port production, but Dirk Niepoort has been changing the game and leading a Portuguese Wine revolution to put Douro back on the winemaking map. Niepoort was born to a traditional Port family that has been operating since 1842. Since then, he has taken over the family business and started making dry red table wines using the same grapes that have traditionally been used to make Port. Today, the Niepoort family owns 80 hectares of vines, all farmed organically and biodynamically.
