2020 Pieropan Soave Classico is this week’s Wine of the Week!

The Pieropan family has been producing wine since the early 1900’s in vineyards situated in the Soave Classico region of Veneto, Italy. One of Italy’s classic white varieties, the Garganega grape reigns king here, flourishing in the rolling vineyards surrounded by the medieval village of Soave. The hills are composed of mainly decomposed volcanic and granitic soils, yielding highly concentrated and ripened grapes.

This Soave Classico is a blend of organically grown Garganega and Trebbiano grapes. In the glass, it’s a brilliant straw yellow with greenish hints and a delicate nose of almond blossoms and marzipan. On the palate, it’s elegant and balanced with notes of golden fruits, lemongrass, and fresh herbs. The zingy acidity enhances its lovely, long finish.

This wine is excellent as an aperitif or when paired with vegetable dishes, seafood, savory soups, white pizza, or shellfish.
