Bodegas Olarra 2015 Cerro Añon Reserva Rioja is this week’s featured wine!

Rioja is arguably one of Spain’s most famous and historic wine regions. The region’s focus is mainly on Tempranillo, although Garnacha, Mazuelo, and Graciano are also grown and often blended with Tempranillo. 2015 was also considered a “record vintage” due to the hot and dry growing season, which resulted in wines with great complexity and aging potential.  

This Reserva is a blend of Tempranillo, Mazuelo, and Graciano. It’s medium-bodied with great structure and a nose of dark cherry, blood orange, and cedar. The palate delivers flavors of dark fruits, licorice, and spice with light tannins leading into a soft, lingering finish.

Pair with grilled sirloin steak, lamb, lasagna, and hard cheeses.
