Penley Estate Phoenix Cabernet Sauvignon is this week’s featured wine!

Penley Estate is located right in the center of Australia’s most famous Cabernet Sauvignon region, Coonawarra. The region is flat with a cool Mediterranean climate, very similar to Bordeaux. It’s distinguished by a crumbled, red clay loam known as “terra rossa,” which overlies soft limestone. This unique layering of soils creates a substrate that is well-draining and offers good water retention to support vine roots through the hot Australian summers. 

This consistently high scoring Cabernet has a complex bouquet of plum, blackberry, and dark chocolate. The palate is intense and long, with rich dark fruits supported by velvety tannins.

Pair with beef, game, poultry, and hard cheeses.
