This red blend out of Columbia Valley, Washington is the perfect summer red!

This week we’re featuring 2016 Hedges Family Estate CMS Red Blend, Columbia Valley, Washington!

The Hedges Family Estate is nestled on an obscure little hill known as Red Mountain. There, the Hedges family have concentrated their efforts on producing complex red blends with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes. The winery is also committed to sustainability and minimal intervention. After harvest, no commercial yeast is added after fermentation which results in wines that are a true expression of the terroir. 

Hedges Family CMS is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah. It is deep ruby in color with aromas of buttered toast and sweet plum. On the palate, there are flavors of sweet cherry, smoke, and graham cracker. It finishes with a hint of vanilla. 

This is a nice, easy-drinking red blend that’s interesting without being complicated. It’s also a great match with beef, pasta, veal, and poultry.
